From the Commonwealth Park series, this bird stayed still long enough for me to get positioned, framed, and focused. I thought this would just be a throw-away shot, but after some cropping and vignetting in Lightroom, it turned out pretty good.
This shot was part of more experimentation with depth of field and aperture priority mode at Commonwealth Park. This reminded me of those shots of soldiers in a line where one particular soldier is in focus giving him individuality and a sea of conformity.
My pro photographer friend, Dave Schelske, inspired this shot with a dramatic shot looking up a rusted pier post. My other shots of this football goalpost didn't turn out the way I had hoped, but I tried to make something of this one. Inspiration, imitation, and homage…not copying. :)
This post, like the curb in Smooth As Butter, was freshly painted and bright. I love colors like this: bright, bold, vivid.
